How to Make Rose Scented Bath Bombs

EASY DIY MOTHER’S DAY GIFT

We all need the reminder every so often about self care. It’s such a pleasure to make your own bath products and to be able to share them with loved ones. These lush-inspired DIY Rose Scented Bath Bombs only require a few ingredients to make, but once you gather them, they are fun and simple! Because roses are a staple of love, rose is the perfect essential oil to incorporate into this year’s DIY Mother’s Day gift. Rose oil is thought to inspire uplifting, balancing and rejuvenating states of mind while invoking feelings of joy, happiness and hope. A bath bomb that incorporates this oil is a gift that keeps on giving for moms everywhere.

Ingredients & Supplies

  • 1 cup Baking Soda
  • ½ cup Citric Acid
  • ½ cup Epsom Salt
  • 3 tsp. Almond Oil
  • 2 tsp. Essential Rose Oil or Rose Extract
  • 1 tsp. Water
  • Drops of Food Coloring
  • Bowl
  • Whisk

Instructions

  1. Combine the dry ingredients, then set aside.
  2. Place liquid ingredients in a small jar to mix.
  3. Add your food coloring one drop at a time (remember it will get lighter as you mix it into your dry ingredients).
  4. Add the wet ingredients to the dry, a little at a time so you don’t get fizzing.
  5. Whisk the ingredients together and press into your mold. I used a stainless steel mold (seen below) and am really happy with it.
  6. Fill both halves of the mold and press them together.
  7. Give it a light tap, and then remove one side. Flip over and remove the other half.
  8. Set it gently aside and let dry for at least 24 hours. This is key so they can dry and totally set. Then, you can package them up.

Now that you have the secret and luxurious bath bomb recipe, you can continue to make your own and add variety to the experience! Some wonderful combinations to use in the future include: lavender essential oil paired with purple food coloring; eucalyptus and sage essential oils paired with green food coloring; sweet orange essential oil with orange food coloring; or chamomile essential oil with yellow food coloring. Here is a little more about each and their benefits.

  • Lavender oil is one of the most popular essential oils, and it is thought to have deeply calming effects, promoting relaxation and sleep, while combating anxiety, allergies, insomnia and more.
  • Eucalyptus and sage are a wonderful pairing, with eucalyptus acknowledged as an anti-congestion agent, promoting easy breathing and rejuvenation. Sage is known to be the cleansing oil—a way to clear out negativity from the atmosphere. Paired together, they encourage emotional balance, and mental and emotional clarity.
  • Sweet orange is perfect for a morning-time bath bomb, as this essential oil is known to spark joy and excitement while lifting one’s mood and reducing stress.
  • Chamomile would make for the perfect bath bomb right before bed, as it evokes sleepiness and calm before a good night’s sleep.
